The fonts are acceptable here, but I had to set it to 100dpi, full hinting and sub-pixel hinting.

+1
I also got my XO working with XFCE recently, and would love to get more instructions on what to test and where to record the results.

No sound in FC10
by Jim
FC10 / KDE
I can't get any sound, I checked Kmix and settings are okay.
I uninstalled Pulseaudio, and Sound works fine using "HDA Intel ACC662
Analog"
But settings are not allowing my Mic to work.
What is wrong with Pluseaudio ??
The Sound device is a Intel 82801FB.

XO: Network Manager and hidden ESSID
by Ludek Smid
Hello,
it seems that there are problems with hidden ESSID on encrypted networks
(WEB and WPA/WPA2).
When I select "Connect to Hidden Wireless Network" and enter correct
connection parameters I end with "Activation (eth0/wireless):
association took too long" in /var/log/messages. Displayed dialog asking
for new secrets does not contain WPA/WPA2. NM stores wireless network info.
However, when I cancel the dialog and click on (now visible) hidden
ESSID, I get correct dialog asking for secrets and connection is
successfully completed.
There is already a bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=448437 for an older version
of NM.
Can anyone confirm that it's not an XO specific bug?
Thanks,
Ludek

F10Snap3 KDE LiveCD: no graphics on Mobility Radeon 9600
by Markku Kolkka
I tested Fedora-10-Snap3-i686-Live-KDE on my HP nc6000 laptop,
and the system booted to a black screen. Ctrl-Alt-F1 gave me a
working text console, so the problem is failing X
startup. /var/log/messages contains:
Oct 25 22:01:50 localhost kernel:
[drm:drm_buffer_object_validate] *ERROR* Failed moving buffer.
Oct 25 22:01:50 localhost kernel:
[drm:drm_buffer_object_validate] *ERROR* Out of aperture space
or DRM memory quota.
Oct 25 22:01:50 localhost kernel: mtrr: base(0x98b48000) is not
aligned on a size(0x400000) boundary
Oct 25 22:01:50 localhost kernel: [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR*
invalid framebuffer id
Oct 25 22:01:50 localhost kdm[2948]: X server died during startup
Oct 25 22:01:50 localhost kdm[2948]: X server for display :0
cannot be started, session disabled
If I use the "nomodeset" parameter the system works normally. I
guess modesetting bugs should be filed against kernel?

F10 beta-GA path
by Chris Bredesen
I've installed from the initial beta (I think) and I'm updating
constantly from rawhide. When F10 goes GA, will my repositories "snap"
to the release repositories or will I stay on rawhide? If this isn't
automatic, is there a documented procedure for this?
Thanks,
Chris

vt1->vt7 working solution?
by Adam Pribyl
Could someone here give me working solution how to move X from vt1 to vt7
in F10?
I am not asking for a flame about what is better, but for working
solution.
At the moment I tried the one supplied in some "flame" discussion - means:
1. in /etc/gdm/custom.conf to add "FirstVT=7" - it is not obvious in which
section this belongs.
2. I add start on stared prefdm to /etc/event.d/tty1
but I end up in a situation where on vt1 there is running both mingetty
AND Xorg. When I try to switch to any vt from X I get only a message in
Xorg.0.log "Failed to switch consoles", which seems to me pretty broken.
Where is exactly the statement telling Xorg to start with parametr "vt1"?
Thanks in advance

XO: USB-to-Ethernet
by Dan Horák
Hello,
I have received a new battery earlier today, so I am now fully
productive. In addition to the battery I bought also an USB-to-Ethernet
adapter called ZoWii from an XO e-shop (http://www.ilovemyxo.com/).
identification is "0b95:7720 ASIX Electronics Corp. AX88772"
It was detected and works well in Snap3.

Skype
by Timothy Murphy
Is anyone running Skype under Fedora-10?
When I download the latest Fedora skype version
(said to be for Fedora 7 or 8)
it seems to install fine,
but when I try to ring I get the error message
"Problem with Audio Playback",
It's quite possible - in fact very likely -
that this error has nothing to do with skype.
Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.
