I am not sure whether this is a bug in gcc 12 or not.
There is a change which is currently preventing the xserver from
building, reported upstream here:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1256
Which was raised in gcc first:
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=103292 eventually marked
as duplicate of
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=98503
Looks like a patch was submitted
https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-patches/2021-January/564483.html
but it is unclear to me whether this will eventually be fixed in gcc
or not (the patch is a year old now and hasn't seen much traction
apparently). Meanwhile, I cannot build the xserver in rawhide (like
e.g. the recently released xwayland 22.1 rc1) because of that.
I posted a possible fix upstream:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/853
But this is considered more of a workaround… Not sure how to proceed there.
Cheers
Olivier
