By the way, what is supposed to happen when you use
private addressing but don't provide your own dns for it? Does it
annoy the root servers to get all those reverse lookup queries for
ranges that don't have public servers?
Yes, it does annoy them. See <

gory details. Bind 9.5.1 includes (will include?) support for automatic
empty zones to cover those queries.
