Its definitely not right, it needs to keep the stuff.
If there is information that needs to be kept around per-device, then

Agreed. That would clean up a lot of the mess I see.
(WEP key isn't one of those... that's per-network not per
network-device

be in the device configuration at all; I think NetworkManager handles it

Except when it isn't. Think about wireless in docking stations, wireless USB
ports in hotels ..
