I have only one java site can you please give me a few more links just
to make sure it is not the issue with the site I'm visiting.

As I have the same output as you and my java is working and in
about:plugins it's listed as
GCJ Web Browser Plugin 1.4
File name: gcjwebplugin.so
The GCJ Web Browser Plugin executes Java applets.
I wonder why yours does not. Did you restarted firefox?
