I don't think that yum can pull updates for different names. I know
yum needed to be manually told to install
openoffice.org on many of
the rhel rebuilds because yum couldn't just handle it on it's own.

we tested it with yum and yum upgrade pulls the new thing down.
The reason is that it's now noarch and yum can't do i386->noarch
updates, while with a name change it should work....
