I have done no more examination, before I do, does anyone know what's
up? The resultant kernel and modules are fine FWIW, so no problem there,
just the size is the issue.
On a SUSE Linux 9.1 with the shipped 2.6.4-something, the final du
results are ~400MB.
ive noticed the exact same thing. i guess its to do with compiller
differences. not sure what version of gcc SUSE ship but i found with a
totally vanilla 2.6.6 that the tree used up ~1.2gb as well
