Summary: Maybe others (and me) have tried to package it for Fedora. But
there's an (optional) non-open source part for picture processing and
it's unclear if you need it for your special printer type or if it is
only to improve performance of the driver to printer communication.
Suggestion: Just take and use the rpm of openprinting to have fun :)
My Samsung ML-1640 is working well with openprinting.

Hi Raphael,
thank you for your advice, but if I install the
openprinting-splix-2.0.0-2lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm (I guess, you meant this),
my printer ML-1660 (USB attached) is not found in the database, so it is
not operable, although I had loaded the kernel module usblp.ko.
