Try building without Pango....
You shouldn't even have to rebuild it even. Just set the
MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO environment variable. For example, open a terminal and
run:
$ export MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1
$ firefox
That will prevent Firefox from using Pango for that run.
(If you want this to be permanent, you can add the export to your login
scripts such as your ~/.bash_profile or similar.)
