Is there a particular bug fix that you need in the GA release you need
for building against? The gcc release in stable is pretty close to GA
so unless there's a specific bug that was fixed between the last
stable build and the GA build it should make no difference to your
builds.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1554279 (fixed with
gcc-8.0.1-0.18.fc28) blocks builds packages using the gdal library, so
an update (and override) would be useful
