After yum does the install of the rpms, the next thing it does is to say
"cleaning up <rpm name>"
Right, that means it is removing the older version of the package that's
still on the system.
You need to look at your installed packages:
yum list installed
and look for duplicates, remove the older packages with:
yum remove package-ver-rel.arch
