In the past, packages were removed because they were no longer
functional, not widely used, etc. They weren't just pushed to another
location, they were dropped altogether.
What we are seeing now is a large scale dumping of packages with the
excuse that they can go to Extras. However, since Extras isn't
available at install, ISOs are not available for download, and anaconda
can't handle dependencies, currently running software can be broken by
upgrades.

it just doesn't currently have a way to talk to those repositories that
have the dependencies.
