corrupted and propagated to all the mirrors? Is it a screwed-up
configuration on my end (I have not tinkered with it, actually)?
Googling for the error message did not yield anything. What can I check?
Sometimes this is because of a problematic (transparent?) proxy server.
If it persists, it may be that, for which you can try setting
"http_caching" in /etc/yum.conf.
