can't just claim we ignore tradition. Fedora after all is Unix:

If anything.. gnome-terminal is the odd man out and there is an
argument to be made to bring it into line with the common default
behaviour of other virtual terminals.
Maybe. But I still don't see how you can eliminate the blinking
cursor for all the other X apps. Do you propose to nuke it there
as well? If not, why do it in the terminals? If yes, i just can't
see how we're not going to upset a lot of users.
