Hummm... _sure_ it doesn't break badly? Last time I tried Gnome was
completely hosed, and normal shudown got stuck.

Doesn't work. On my systemd-virgin machine systemd isn't installed, and
upstart isn't updated due to conflicts with systemd (or perhaps among
*-sysvinit).
In none of my two machines do {systemd,upstart}-sysvinit get
installed/updated, due to conflicts.
Will need freshen up on broken-rawhide-fu before rebooting.
