I haven't looked at the code but it is definitely coming up with an update
notification. I'm using bittorrent-4.2.1-1.fc5 and it reports that 4.2.2
is available.

If you remove or rename your ~/.bittorrent directory, the notification
should pop up the next time you start the client.
Indeed it does. I've done a quick patch, which seems to fix it for me at
least. We'll see when 4.2.3 comes out ;-)
