syslog or the journal? Wouldn't the journal make more sense because
of spoof protection and and the amount of the data that cron can
write?
Whatever is written to syslog these days ends up in the journal first
and is then forwarded to a syslog implementation that might be running.
So you do get the spoof protection this way.
