Do you mean that having an active ethernet connection at all times is
the workaround?
For all affected, here is a proper workaround:
in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf add the follwing line
blacklist atl1c
reboot
You won't have wired internet, but it won't crash when you unplug the cable.
