The reality is that QA is thinly spread in general. Making this
blocker "about Macs" is a misleading conclusion, there's a grain of
truth in it, but it's mistaking the forest for the trees. Next time
there's a release blocking bug, it'll just be something else.
It's not "about Macs", it's about the installer and its dependencies.
There are other release blocking bugs, and certainly Live images
that don't work are embarrassing, but not being able to install the
system is as bad as it gets.
FWIW, an application included in the Live image that crashes on startup
but has a 0-day update scheduled is a much smaller problem than not
being able to boot the installer, or the installer working as expected.
