And that's because GRUB and the grub-boot-success.service are able to
do an automatic fallback to the previous working kernel if boot fails
following a kernel upgrade.
Sorry for the confusion, I don't think this is correct. If boot is not
successful, the GRUB menu will not be hidden at the next boot giving
the user the option of picking another kernel.
