Support for puppet initialization and signing
by Jonathan Underwood
This patch series (against the stable branch) adds support for puppet
(re-)registration during machine provision. More specifically, this
adds simple snippets to (i) install puppet; and (ii) generate puppet
certificates and trigger a signing request of those certificates. In
addition, optional modules are provided to (i) revoke old certificates
for a machine prior to reinstallation; and (ii) sign the newly
generated certificate. The latter modules require the puppet master
signing authority (i.e. puppetca) to be running on the same host as
cobbler.
[PATCH 1/9] Add install_pre_puppet.py module
[PATCH 2/9] Add install_post_puppet.py module
[PATCH 3/9] Add configuration of puppet pre/post modules to settings file
[PATCH 4/9] Add snippets/puppet_install_if_enabled
[PATCH 5/9] Add snippets/puppet_register_if_enabled
[PATCH 6/9] Add puppet_auto_setup to settings file
[PATCH 7/9] Add puppet snippets to sample.ks
[PATCH 8/9] Take account of puppet_auto_setup in install_pre_puppet.py
[PATCH 9/9] Take account of puppet_auto_setup in install_post_puppet.py

pulling rendered data for inherited fields through api
by Greg Swift
So... I'm trying to get some work done that requires me getting some
specific rendered data from the cobbler xmlrpc, API could work too, but
everything written in octa is already off the xmlrpc interface.
In [35]: server = xmlrpclib.Server("http://127.0.0.1/cobbler_api")
In [36]: server.get_system_for_koan('testing')['virt_cpus']
Out[36]: 4
In [37]: server.get_system('testing')['virt_cpus']
Out[37]: '<<inherit>>'
And to be honest... with API I have similar results
In [38]: handle = capi.BootAPI()
In [39]: t = handle.find_system(name="testing")
In [40]: t.virt_cpus
Out[40]: '<<inherit>>'
In [41]: exec('t = %s' % t.dump_vars(t))
In [42]: t['virt_cpus']
Out[42]: 4
I guess the xmlrpc way isn't to bad, but I've got to me missing something
with the API.

Simplified replication for distros
by Scott Henson
I've had a bug that has been bugging me for a while in replicate where
if your redhat breed distro isn't exactly a redhat distro, you end up
with a link in /var/www/cobbler/links to
/var/www/cobbler/ks_mirror. This is troublesome because if you try to
replicate off of that cobbler server, you end up duplicating the
contents of /var/www/cobbler/ks_mirror. It has been extremely annoying,
so I finally fixed it[0].
I'd like to know if any of the new breeds would have an issue with me
doing this in master. From the looks of things, it shouldn't be a
problem, but I want to make sure. Thanks.

That looks like a no for all. The generic_{delete,rename}.tmpl
probably got dropped when those actions were made into batch actions.
The header was probably never used, I think it was intended to have
the logo and stuff in it to be re-used easily among the templates, but
we got rid of a lot of them when we made things generic. Also, I took
a lot of the templates for the old site and "django'd" them, but
possibly never actually used them.
They should be safe to remove.
