Chatting further with Dan, he explained some more of the limitations of
OpenStack's console log handling relative to Beaker's native console log
handling.
The latter is based on physically connecting the server's console port
to a conserver instance. This means you can actually *log in* to the
serial console (via conserver), even if the virtual consoles, ssh
access, etc are all broken. By contrast, OpenStack only exposes a
read-only view of the serial console, so you can't use it to bypass
problems with remote access, or things like beah's RHTS compatibility
mode (which messes with the virtual consoles and is enabled by default
on RHEL6 and earlier).
