Subject: [Ambassadors] remember the mission
To: fedora-ambassadors-list(a)redhat.com
When you put your Ambassadors hat on (as opposed to any of your other roles
in Fedora), remember:
(1) You give a face and a name to Fedora. You are a person, friendly and
approachable. Fedora is big and scary, but you are going to help make sure
that *one person* finds their way through all the confusion into the place
where they can contribute.
(2) You are the glue. You help connect different people in different parts
of the Project, because you are always dealing with people whose interests
are different. You should be eager and happy to work with other parts of
Fedora to solve problems.
(3) People are the key. Everything that we do -- events, budgets, swag,
membership verifications, blogging -- it's all done as an attempt to make
personal connections with folks who either want to use or contribute to
Fedora. Places where Ambassadors get together are one of the few times that
Fedora contributors have an opportunity to meet face to face (other than
FUDCons and FADs).
(4) You are the expert in your region. You understand the culture, the
needs, and the best ways to communicate about Fedora and FOSS in your
region. FAmSCo and other "leaders" in Fedora *work for you*, and need to
listen to what you are saying makes sense. We can't ignore the global
picture, but we need to be flexible in adapting to local needs.
These are things I have been thinking about while reading ambassadors-list
recently.

Fedora -- Freedom² and rapid innovation
The Fedora project is proud to present the availability of Fedora 11
Leonidas Alpha.
The Alpha should be able to boot on any system and it offers a peek into the
features that will be included in the final release. Of those, worth
mentioning are the experimental support for the Btrfs filesystem, stable
support for the breathtaking EXT4 filesystem, KDE 4.2, GNOME 2.26, Python
2.6, a new volume control, an exciting multi-seat support (multiple
peripherals can be connected at the same time on a single machine) and a
cross-compiler, allowing developers to build and test Windows applications
right from their Fedora box, without requiring a Windows OS installation.
Highlights of Fedora 11 Alpha:
· Windows Cross Compiler
· Ext4 File System
· Btrfs File System
· New Volume Control
· PackageKit Firmware Support
· GNOME 2.26
· KDE 4.2 RC2
· Xfce 4.6 Beta
· NetBeans 6.5
· Python 2.6
· Git 1.6.1.1
The Fedora 11 (codename Leonidas) development will continue with a beta
release at the end of March, a Preview version at the end of April, and it
will conclude with the final release at the end of June or probably at the
beginning of July, 2009. Fedora 11 will be available for download as GNOME
and KDE Live CD editions for 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, and the usual
installable DVD editions.
Fedora 11 Release Schedule:
· February 5th, 2009 - Fedora 11 Alpha Release
· March 24th, 2009 - Fedora 11 Beta Release
· April 24th, 2009 - Fedora 11 Preview Release
· June 26th, 2009 - Fedora 11 Final Release
Download Fedora 11 Alpha: http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-prerelease
Remember that, this is an alpha release and it should NOT be installed on
production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
The Fedora Project makes no guarantees as to its suitability or usefulness.
All issues should be reported via the Red Hat
Bugzilla<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/>.

I am running Fedora 10 and noticed something pretty odd. When I go into Network Manager , and try to specify a static IP address, I've ran into a possible bug. Whatever value I add into Subnet Mask, will auto change into the value of Default Gateway Address after I shift focus from that page. (i.e. if I switch tabs from the General tab, and then click right back, my subnet value is replaced with the gateway address.)Even after I enter in my subnet, hit save, open the Edit button back up, the subnet mask has again taken the gateway address.
when i use fedora 7 i face no problem to configure network but now i cant configure for that problem.
Please give me a solution.
