This is probably the source of your /var/run vs /run problem. The
f18arm-latest tarball is based on a series of yum upgrades from f17, meaning
there was plenty of room for things to go wrong with the /usr move. I'd
suggest working from the latest F18 Versatile Express image instead- pull
the rootfs out of it as a foundation.
For these "latest" builds I'll be dumping the old scripts and starting
over
properly with David Marlin's kickstarts and lorax work. It should produce
more reliable builds and provide a better foundation. Meanwhile, go with the
TC3 image we're doing a VFAD on today:

I tend to use either the tegra (doesn't need a vfat partition) or the
omap (does have a vfat) over the vexpress images simply because they
use uboot too so have provisions for it where as the vexpress doesn't.
