Fedora-11 ARM available!
by Kedar Sovani
Fedora-11 ARM Repositories are now available!
Details: built for ARMv5 EABI, soft-float, little endian.
Currently there are packages from three yum groups: Base, Core
and Web-Server.
A yum-enabled pre-built root filesystem is available along with
instructions for working with known platforms (currently Qemu,
Sheevaplug)
The Fedora/ARM architecture wiki page has more information:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM
Do let us know any issues that you may face, or any additional
Fedora Packages/Groups that you would like to have in the
repositories.
Our next steps include a) making the package repository much more
complete by building packages from more package groups (starting
with the Gnome Desktop group) b) tracking f11-updates for these packages.
Thanks,
Kedar.

Java status for ARM?
by Peter Lemenkov
Hello!
Seems that absence of gcj is the most significant difference between
Fedora-ARM and main Fedora repository. What issues prevents gcj from
being built? While digging spec-file for GCC, I found %bootstrap_java
condition - maybe we should simply turn it on? :)

Fedora 8 libgcc and libstdc++
by bill
I've just read this thread:
www.mail-archive.com/fedora-arm@redhat.com/msg00117.html
and it fixed my yum, too. I'm using Fedora 8 (also on an i.MX31/armv6l
board) and am also pleased with *this great repo.
I have an issue, though. When installing certain RPMS from the repo,
they fail because of a dependency on libgcc_s.so.1. I would expect to
find this library in a package called "libgcc", but no such package
seems to exist. I queried all packages in the repo and none claimed to
have such a file. I also encounter a similar problem with libstdc++.so.6.
I've gotten around it by making my own RPMS for these two libraries, by
borrowing libraries from my ARM board developer's kit, but I'd like to
do this the proper way. What am I missing?
If necessary, I can post yum/rpm errors (and anything else).
Thanks,
-bill

I've ordered one. I think they're on about 4 week lead-time, so I've
got plenty time to be reading and lurking.
In the meantime I'll try and set-up the cross-compiler toolchain and see
how we go from there.

Sheevaplug applications
by Graeme Hilton
Hi,
I just subscribed to this list in the hope of picking up some tips and
hopefully (in time) contribute.
The main reason I'm posting here is that I run my main laptop and my
netbook on Fedora 11 and I'm fairly familiar with how they're working out.
My plan is to purchase a Sheevaplug to replace my current home-server.
My home-server used to be a MythTV back/front end, but it got retired
when I bought a Humax PVR. In any case, it still contains my music and
photograph collections and acts as a file server for general documents
etc. I also use it as a print server for my HP Photosmart printer/scanner.
Ideally, I'd like to start doing more with my music and run something
like SqueezeCentre to let me stream music around the house.
What I want to know is if anyone has managed to get this kind of setup
working with a Sheevaplug?
Thanks for any responses.

Ok, my ARM machine works quite well, but how can I help you?
by Peter Lemenkov
Hello!
I finished setup of my arm machine (and will try to install fedora on
another one in the nearest future), but how can I help you? Seems that
significant part of applications is still missing from F-10 repository
(as well as in F-11, which even has broken updates repository, btw) -
can I do something with it?
Also, I plan to provide instructions on how to set up fedora on my
Western Digital's MyBook (and, probably, pre-built bootloader(s) and
kernel).

BeagleBoard and ARM tests
by Gerard Braad
Hello,
Has anyone already tried to run the Fedora ARM built on a Beagleboard?
I was planning to do so on short notice. I own a beagleboard and other
ARM enabled devices (NSLU2, 770, N810, etc). Just let me know.
greets,
Gerard
