That kill-off of older x86 models made sense when you could effectively
no longer purchase said systems, and couldn't purchase them for several
years. When pretty much all you COULD purchase was an i686, and that
had been the case for years, *then* it made sense to stop i386 support.
I feel the same way about armv5tel. If Sheeva/Kirkwood stops using v5
then sure, I feel dropping v5 support would be fine sometime later.
