OAFIID:GNOME_MixerApplet
by Antonio M
every time I log in I get this message:Il pannello ha riscontrato un
problema durante il caricamento di «OAFIID:GNOME_MixerApplet».
that translated is:
panel has found a problem during loading of OAFIID:GNOME Mixer applet
And of course I don't see any mixer applet to control slides for sound.
What is it???

So where do I find this boot.iso? More importantly, where are the instructions
on doing a network install?

Preupgrade show up in menus?
by Adam Clark
After installing the preupgrade (preupgrade-0.9.3-1.fc8), should I
expect there to be something in the menus to start the upgrade?
I did find /usr/bin/preupgrade and was able to start it from a command
line, but I wondering about a menu option.
Side question: How do I search the archives of this list?

hal v NetworkManager v pulseaudio v screen res v touchpad scroll areas
by Development discussions related to Fedora
So, I'm having all this fun where during boot, hal fails to start, and
this seems to lead to NetworkManager and dbus problems, and no sound,
wired or wireless network, and only basic touchpad mouse operation.
After boot, doing:
service NetworkManager stop
service haldaemon stop
service haldaemon start
service NetworkManager start
gets at least the wired network going, but the wireless is staying
~disabled.
I've been checking bugzilla and the hal issue bug 444859 444410 443602
443216 seems to be noted, however, I'm not sure if my machine has gotten
out of kilter, and needs the shot gun.
Machine started life at F7>F8>F9beta, updates, especially a lot of koji
NetworkManager ones, which have been steadily improving.
For a giggle I did an rpm -Va and nothing major stood out about,
although I had about 60 items {mainly config} with issues.
I don't want to be the only one having all the fun ;-)
Any similar issues / solutions to the above ?

nm ignoring dhclient.conf?
by Neal Becker
In dhclient.conf I have:
prepend domain-name-servers 127.0.0.1;
send host-name "nbecker1";
Both of these used to work AFAICT, but since update to F9 neither seems to
have any effect.

Fedora 9 out? (sort of)
by Gene C.
After installing f9-preview and updating to rawhide (or whatever) today (May
4th), there was included a fedora-release update and the system now says
(/etc/system-release) it is running Fedora release 9 (Sulphur)
... is this correct (I thought it was not released until May 13th) or has
someone released things a bit early?

orca and firefox
by Chuck Anderson
I'm playing with the orca screenreader on F9, and I cannot get it to
utter a single word in Firefox. It works fine on GNOME applications.
Is there some magic needed to make this work inside Firefox, or is it
just currently broken?
Thanks.
