bittorrent port range?
by G.Wolfe Woodbury
I could have sworn that I saw a notice of what range of ports bittorrent wants opened
to optimize performance, but reviewing the archive I can't find the numbers right now.
Could someone give me a clue of what ports to forward to the torrent box from my router?

iptables Problem
by Janina Sajka
For some reason the DNAT target isn't working in the following situation.
iptables -t nat -A PRErOUTING -i eth0 -p udp --dport 5060 -j DNAT --to
+172.16.32.48
however
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT
172.16.32.48
works just fine.
Any clue?
This is with kernel 2.6.17-1.2630.fc6 and iptables-1.3.5-1.2.1. selinux
is disabled.

metacity aiglx ati x600
by Mads Villadsen
I have gotten aiglx up and running on my dell laptop with an ati x600
graphics card.
However when I set metacity to be a compositing manager nothing special
happens.
Just to make sure everything was configured correctly I installed compiz
and get all the wobbly windows and other effects.
Do I need to do anything special to get effects and features from
metacity?

Announcing Fedora Core 6 Test3 (5.92)
by Jeremy Katz
On August 24th, the International Astronomical Union redefined what is
required for planet-hood. This had the result of reclassifying Pluto
as a dwarf planet.
Today, we release Fedora Core 6 Test 3. We have not redefined what is
required for a Fedora release, instead continuing to provide the same
high quality that users have come to expect from Fedora.
Fedora Core 6 Test 3 (5.92) Now Available
==================================
The Fedora Project announces the third and final test release of the
Fedora Core 6 development cycle, available for the i386, x86_64, and
ppc/ppc64 architectures, including Intel based Macintosh computers. Be
aware that Test releases are recommended only for Linux
experts/enthusiasts or for the technology evaluation, as many parts
are likely to be broken and the rate of change is rapid.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Core/Schedule
The final release of Fedora Core 6 is scheduled for release on October
11. At this point, the release is feature complete and in a locked
down bug fix mode. It is important that we get your help in testing,
reporting, and suggesting fixes for bugs. Please direct bugs to
http://bugzilla.redhat.com, product Fedora Core, Version fc6test3. As
always, be sure that your bug is not already fixed by updates and
search for existing bugs before filing.
Thanks to all in the Fedora Project Community who have contributed to
this release. Your continued efforts are what makes Fedora possible.

The pretty Fedora screen saver password dialog gone?
by Steven Haigh
I just installed FC5 on a PC and am in the middle of upgrading it to
rawhide, and I noticed that this machine I'm on now doesn't have the
pretty Fedora screensaver unlock/password dialog.
Anyone know where this went or how it can be re-enabled?
On my rawhide laptop, I only get a grey dialog box, not the one with
the pretty Fedora teardrop thing. I've checked my theme and it is the
"Clearlooks" one.....

Hi,
I am trying to compile RLIB, a GPL reporting library.
When make reaches the PDF documentation,
it gives these errors:

But that didn't help. The system is an uptodate rawhide.
I wanted to try removing and reinstalling docbook* but
yum remove "docbook*" wanted to remove half of the
installed packages from system.
On an FC5 system, the documentation can be compiled,
the stylesheet it uses hasn't changed for ages.
"docbook2pdf book.sgm" wihout the custom stylesheet
give the same error. How can I fix this?
Best regards,

Xemacs Update Mystery
by McBroom, Robert C
Updated to xemacs-21.5.27-3.fc6.rpm along with catching up with rawhide
and xemacs disappeared. Looking at /usr/bin shows a link to
/etc/alternatives/xemacs which in turn is a link to
/usr/bin/xemacs-21.5-b26 which does not exist. The links have the time
stamp of my update.
There is a /usr/bin/xemacs-21.5-b27 dated 9/10. Made a link of xemacs
to this file and things work again.
What gives?

Keyboard stops responding when using gnome-terminal
by Steven Haigh
Hi all,
I've been having this issue for a few days now and it's really gotten
to the point where I can't stand it anymore.. My laptop (a Dell
Inspiron 8600) is having issues where after a while of use with
various apps (usually gaim, gnome-terminal, and firefox), the
keyboard just locks up.
Now I'm not sure what's going on when it does this, as everything
looks normal... the only difference I can tell is that the gnome-
terminal prompt goes from it's normal box to a hollow box. during
this time i can't click on menus or do anything useful.
The one thing I CAN do is to use the keyboard to press CTRL + ALT +
F1 and low and behold, the keyboard works fine again. switch back to
X, and the keyboard doesn't work. rinse, lather, repeat.
There are no obvious things in Xorg.0.log that could indicate what's
going on, however if I kill gnome-terminal with the mouse, everything
comes back to normal. As I do 90% of my work in a terminal, this is
DAMN annoying...
Anyone have any ideas on how to track this down? I've drawn a mental
blank.
