Firestarter?
by Jim Bevier
I have not been able to find an RPM for Firestarter that will work with FC3RC5.
Has anyone got it running? If so, did you build from source or use an RPM.
This is for an X86_64 system. If from source, how?

Using yum with unsigned and corrupted packages.
by Kim Lux
Some of the packages I'm getting from the repositories are missing
signatures (no big deal) or don't match their checksums. (Big deal, in
my books)
If one is using yum, one incident of either of these stops the upgrade
cold. (Good thing/bad thing.) The good thing is that nothing gets
installed that shouldn't. The bad thing is that it rejects all the
other packages too.
Is there a way to proceed with the install, automatically ignoring the
unsigned packages and excluding the checksum missing packages ?
Is there a way to have yum query the user for permission to install each
package (and not kill all of them if the user rejects one) ? BTW this
was a pet peeve of mine with up2date as well.

Kudos to the spam-assassin developers !
by Kim Lux
I've been running evolution with spam assassin in FC3. It works great.
I didn't have to program it to do anything. Just use the junk button on
your spam emails and it develops its own rules.
It must save me 15 minutes a day. I get a lot of spam.

RE: FC3t3 -- udev and SCSI devices [Solved]
by Bill Cronk
Both RAID boxes are now working happily together on one server and I
have received an email from Neil Brown at cse.unsw.edu.au concerning my
question about how to change the md? reference burried in the superblock
on a RAID box.
Thanks to all,

Kudos to whomever worked on the synaptics touchpad driver !
by Kim Lux
I'm using the new synaptics touchpad driver on my HP ZD7280. It works
very, very well, better than it does in Windows. The scroll function is
really handy.
I've got two small criticisms:
a) I dislike the "select when heldover" because it sometimes opens
things I don't want to have opened. Is there a way to disable this ?
b) The cursor gets a little jumpy in the corners, most noticeably when
trying to open the menu in KDE. I'm wondering if there is something in
the cursor positioning algorithm that causes this.
I love how the tap and double tap work now.
Question: is there a way to set the synaptics device parameters in a
graphical tool, ie like system-config-mouse ?

IPv6 tunneling broken in latest rawhide?
by Thomas Zehetbauer
Hi,
it seems that one of the recent rawhide upgrades broke my IPv6 6in4
tunneling setup. Although the system says that it brought up the sit1
device on boot it does not appear in ifconfig and even ifup sit1 does
not help. Anyone else seeing this?

Where is Quanta+?
by Gerry Tool
There seems to be no Quanta+ HTML editor available in FC3RC5. I
expected to find it after my normal custom selections, but it is not
installed. I cannot find it in the lists for Add/Remove Programs, either.
Has it been dropped, or am I missing something? This is a very useful
program.

I'm not convinced, for my pattern of usage at least, that the game is
worth the candle. On my laptop I start my desktop, a few xterms and
maybe Mozilla, then leave them running. Any time that might be saved
on startup is outweighed by the inconvenience of having the system become
unresponsive when anacron kicks in to perform the prelinking. Which
always seems to happen at the most awkward moment. (Yes, I know I can
turn it off. And I have.)
Prelink seems to do an enormous amount of work when it runs. Have the
developers checked that all of this effort is really necessary?
What might help would be the ability to limit the resources (CPU, disk
I/O, whatever) that are used by background processes. Nice is nice, but
not powerful enough. Something like cpucap
http://www.rshk.co.uk/projects/cpucap/
would seem to be a better option.

sendmail dropping outgoing email on the floor
by Carlos Puchol
hi,
i filed bug 137216 for a problem that seems pretty serious to me.
sendmail drops outgoing email with
Oct 25 14:25:40 rome sendmail[9106]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(cpg): can not chdir(/var/spool/clientmqueue/): Permission denied
i gave it high priority because it loses data. details at:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=137216
however, i don't see anyone else having an issue on this.
the only thing different than standard config is something that
most people downloading email will have to do and that is:
define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.comcast.net')
MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(myowndomain.com)dnl
MASQUERADE_AS(myowndomain.com)dnl
noone running into this?
