RE: nvidia driver kernel 2.6.9 667
by Brian Callahan
Hmmm - don't know either :-( I installed the old driver, then the new
driver again and now it works. Maybe an old module was still loaded as
I keep testing . New driver works for me now no problem.

Public SPEC files please
by Dag Wieers
Hi,
Since I don't know who to address this to, let's address this to all :)
I guess it's time again to ask/beg for making those SPEC files public. All
of them if possible: Fedora, Raw Hide, RHEL, fedora.us, livna.org.
If you want people making compatible packages, find problems or doing
general QA, having those SPEC files available instead of SRPMs is crucial.
I don't want to go download another 5MB to have a 5kB file and see 5 bytes
changed.
Also a mailinglist that holds either the CVS commits or daily diffs of
these files would be very (*VERY*) appreciated, although if these SPEC
files are available I can do that myself easily.
So Red Hat, are we ready for that ? Or shall I wait another year ?
PS Some of it could even be "legally" required in the sense that eg.
fedora.us started its amavisd-new package from my SPEC file and I can't
even peek to see what exactly they have changed. Bugzilla has some broken
links, but there it ends. No SRPM, no SPEC file, no clue :)

OK I added the line and then ran the installer but now I get a different

FC3RC5 boot hung
by Gene Heskett
Greetings;
Its been hung, but not crashed, the keyboard still works & all that,
but I've been looking at the "Configuring kernel parameters" line on
screen now for about half an hour. Anybody know what I should kill
when I reboot to the rescue disk? Also, which dir, in rc3.d or
rc5.d?

Gnome cannot start continued
by Darek Borkowski
I tried to remove /tmp contents but it deos not help. WHen I do
cd /tmp
rm -rf *
there is no difference. After once logout Gnome i cannot login Gnome
again until I start KDE once.
when I remove also hidden files
cd /tmp
rm -rf .??*
then thex X does not start anymore until reboot. The GDM deos not show
nothing but background color.
This makes me angry. I wonder if it is Fedora only problem or just
Gnome problem.

NetworkManager Issues
by Amitabha Roy
Latest rawhide networkmanager is now asking for a password for a
wireless network
which I know is not encrypted!
It does this several times and then connects normally (after I get rid
of the password
window). However, the applet still shows a lock next to the network name
which implies that it thinks it is still a WEP enabled network.
What gives ?
Btw, can someone please tell me how to run NetworkManagerInfo on gnome startup
automatically, rather than open up a console and run NetworkManagerInfo ?
Amitabha
Console Messages on running NetworkManagerInfo
Forcing device '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/eth1' and
network 'RoamAbout Default Network Name' without passphrase
nm_device_wireless_network_exists () looking for network 'RoamAbout
Default Network Name'... found! (encrypted)
But it isn't encrypted!

Mark,
Thanks for the suggestion, however I know the nic (it is an onboard VIA gigabit
nic running on my 100mbps lan) works okay because it was running fine under Win
2003 Server until yesterday evening and it also works fine when using a Knoppix
cd.
I don't have a spare hub I'm afraid, I'm pretty much stuck with the
configuration that I have. I presume if I run ethereal from my FC2 box it will
not pick up anything "interesting" that is being broadcast from the FC3 box?
What things should I check on the FC3 box, are there any log files that will
show what happens during boot etc?

Marc
