Dealing with exceptions from the web services
by Donald W. Long
Hi,
I have being playing around with suds for a bit and I have not figured
out how to get the exceptions that are returned from the web service.
Example of my app is below:
from suds.client import Client
from suds import WebFault
from suds.transport.https import HttpAuthenticated,
WindowsHttpAuthenticated
print "Qualcomm stuff";
url = "http://kwweb01:8080/SAWebService.asmx?wsdl"
t = WindowsHttpAuthenticated(username=sys.argv[1],
password=sys.argv[2])
client = Client(url, transport=t, faults=True, cache=None)
print client;
result = client.service.GetBuildLocation('Q6695ASCTUUS1170');
if (str(result) == "soap:Server"): # Not very good, I should be
able to get the exception that is thrown?????????
print "Did not get results"
else:
print "Q6695ASCTUUS1170 - %s" %(str(result));
I found that if the service returns a string value and the service
throws an exception i can look at the result and it will contain
'soap:Server', but if the service returns void then you can not tell if
you have an error or not.
But what I am really trying to figure out, is how do you see what
exception the service has thrown.
You may noticed that I am using the WindowsHttpAuthenticated, this is
required for access to the server that is running the web services.

Converting code from PHP (__getTypes)
by Pratik Patel
Hi there,
I’m taking my first baby steps in converting some PHP SOAP code over to
Python/suds. I’ve come across some PHP code that is calling the __getTypes()
method which returns the list of structs that represent the various types
from the WSDL. I can’t seem to figure out the SUDS equivalent (either from
being too stupid, too sleep deprived or both). Could someone point me in the
right direction?
Cheers

Exception: (400, u'Bad Request')
by Jake Emerson
Hi everyone! Thank you for suds! I'm having some trouble tracking down the
reason for this cryptic 'Bad Request' exception.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04, and suds version: 0.3.9 GA build: R659-20100219
Here is my source:

I'm having the same problem and it seems like the thread went stale. Here's the schema I'm working with (warning, it's ENORMOUS):
https://partners-cc.workday.com/ccx/service/developer/Human_Resources?wsdl
Here's the type definition that's giving me trouble:
<xsd:complexType name="IDType">
<xsd:annotation>
<xsd:documentation>External ID that uniquely identifies the integratable object within the context of the integration system identified by the System ID attribute.</xsd:documentation>
</xsd:annotation>
<xsd:simpleContent>
<xsd:extension base="xsd:string">
<xsd:attribute name="System_ID" type="xsd:string">
<xsd:annotation>
<xsd:documentation>Integration system identifier, part of a two part key (including the text value of the ID element) that uniquely identify integratable object.</xsd:documentation>
<xsd:appinfo>
<wd:Validation>
<xsd:documentation>A valid instance of Integration ID must exist for the given System ID.</xsd:documentation>
<wd:Validation_Message>Integration System ID does not exist.</wd:Validation_Message>
</wd:Validation>
</xsd:appinfo>
</xsd:annotation>
</xsd:attribute>
</xsd:extension>
</xsd:simpleContent>
</xsd:complexType>
The instance of suds.sudsobject.Object that factory.create returns doesn't have "value" in the key list. I can set it without an error, but when I try to use the object in a request I get a TypeNotFound exception with the message "Type not found: 'value'".
>>> employee_ref = client.factory.create("{%s}Employee_ReferenceType" % namespaces["wd"])
>>> print employee_ref.Integration_ID_Reference.ID
(IDType){
_System_ID = ""
}
>>> employee_ref.Integration_ID_Reference.ID._System_ID = 'WD-I'
>>> employee_ref.Integration_ID_Reference.ID.value = '123$45'
>>> print employee_ref.Integration_ID_Reference.ID
(IDType){
_System_ID = "WD-I"
value = "123$45"
}
>>> result = client.service.Get_Employee(Employee_Reference = employee_ref)
