suds localhost problem: 127.0.0.1 No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
by Markus Heller M.A. (relix GmbH)
Dear list,
I am stuck with a strange error. Maybe I still don't understand the
concept, but please help me out:
def __init__(self, mode=None):
self.__mode = mode
url = 'http://jiveserver/rpc/soap/CommunityService?wsdl'
client = Client(url, cache=None)
security = Security()
token = UsernameToken('webservice', 'supersecret')
security.tokens.append(token)
client.set_options(wsse=security)
print client.last_sent()
result = client.service.getRecursiveCommunities()
print client.last_sent()
Whenever I call my code, it will report to me that it refers to the
CommunityService on 127.0.0.1 and it tells me that the host actively
refused the connection.
>>>>>
urllib2.URLError: <urlopen error [Errno 10061] No connection could be
made because the target machine actively refused it>
<<<<<
That's completely clear to me because there is no soap service on
localhost.
How can I effectively direct the request towards the jiveserver?
Thanks ahead
Markus

Master degree
by Beatriz Merritt
To begin studies for a master, formally a student must go through the same procedure for admission, as well as admission to college. But he must take the test, designed for entering the so-called graduate school.
This general federal test, known as the GRE (Graduate Record Examinations), consists of three parts: a general test that checks the level of erudition and analytical skills, written assignments, exposing the skills of critical thinking and analytical writing, as well as special tests for eight different subjects.
Is it complicated?

cachingpolicy questions
by Jeff Kunce
Hi -
I was having some problems with WSDL caching in windows. Ticket #360
addressed/fixed my immediate concerns, but in the process of understanding
that, I came up with a questions:
It looks like options.cachingpolicy may have originally been intended to
specify whether WSDL's are cached as XML or as pickled objects.
But as implemented (in 0.4.1,) it looks like
- options.cachingpolicy effectively turns caching on or off, and
- WSDL's are always cached as pickled objects (never as xml)
Is this true?
Here's some analysis on the topic:
- The default options.cachingpolicy is 0
- The default cache for a Client is ObjectCache
- ObjectCache only saves pickles
- The Client uses DefinitionsReader to read (and cache) the WSDL
- DefinitionsReader does not cache anything unless options.cachingpolicy==1
- DocumentReader and DocumentCache would be used to cache WSDL's as XML -
but it doesn't look like anything is using them.
I'm thinking that DocumentReader/DocumentCache should be marked as
deprecated if they are not actually used. But I'd rather see cachingpolicy
used to swap between XML and pickle caching. I'd be glad to write a patch
for this if I'm on the right track.
Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Suds & Sharepoint Copy web service
by Chandrashekar Jayaraman
I am trying to access documents hosted on a local sharepoint server using
the Copy.asmx web service
To be specific I am using the GetItems method and CopyIntoItems method
1) The GetItems method accepts the URL of the sharepoint document. The wsdl
seems to suggest that it would return a byte array which
has the document . It is only returing GetItemResult with a status of 0.
What can be done to retreive the document
2) While using the CopyIntoItems method a FieldInformationCollection needs
to be passed - How can that be created with Python ?
Is there a working sample someone has ?
Thanks,
CSJ

I NEED to send a SOAP request with a structure like below, e.g. I need to add the targetnamespace in front of the id attribute:
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:ns0="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:ns1="http://ejb.revitalization.services.ndg/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SOAP-ENV:Header/>
<ns0:Body>
<ns1:doIngest>
<request>
<ns1:ProcessID ns1:id="1430"/>
<ns1:EmailReportID>1031</ns1:EmailReportID>
</request>
</ns1:doIngest>
</ns0:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
I have tried building my request as:
request = wsClient.factory.create('doIngest.request')
request.EmailReportID = "1031"
request.ProcessID = wsClient.factory.create('ProcessIDType')
request.ProcessID._id= "1430"
result=wsClient.service.doIngest(request)
and as:
request = wsClient.factory.create('{http://ejb.revitalization.services.ndg/}doIngest.request')
request.EmailReportID = "1031"
request.ProcessID = wsClient.factory.create('{http://ejb.revitalization.services.ndg/}ProcessIDType')
request.ProcessID._id="1430"
result=wsClient.service.doIngest(request)
and as:
request = wsClient.factory.create('doIngest.request')
request.EmailReportID = emailIDs
request.ProcessID = wsClient.factory.create('ProcessIDType')
request.ProcessID._id = wsClient.factory.resolver.qualify('{http://ejb.revitalization.services.ndg/}_id')
request.ProcessID._id=procID
result=wsClient.service.doIngest(request)
and a number of variants in between...
but every time times the request is created as below, e.g. without a namespace in front of the id attribute:
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:ns0="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:ns1="http://ejb.revitalization.services.ndg/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SOAP-ENV:Header/>
<ns0:Body>
<ns1:doIngest>
<request>
<ns1:ProcessID id="1441"/>
<ns1:EmailReportID>1031</ns1:EmailReportID>
</request>
</ns1:doIngest>
</ns0:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
How do I force the namespace in front of the attribute in the request?
thanks

Problem when embedding an XML element into the soap message
by Bin Zhang
Hi,
I'm building a SOAP client, and I want to embed some XML data in the
soap message. The XML data is already in an external XML file. I used
the method introduced in the "Tips & Tricks / Including Literal XML"
section. The XML file is first parsed, and a suds.sax.element.Element is
obtained. Then the RPC is made with the Element as the argument.
However, the resulting SOAP message only contains the root node of the
XML. For example, if I use the "query" example in that section to
construct the XML data to be embedded, the only embedded data is an
empty <query/> tag. In the log information suds printed out, it did
contain all the data in the query tag.
Do you have any suggestions on where the problem might be?
Thanks,
Bin
