--- Comment #77 from Hans de Goede <hdegoede(a)redhat.com> ---
(In reply to Evangelos Foutras from comment #76)
@Hans Do you know if the upstream fix for VBoxServiceAutoMount and
vboxsf.mount will support both pre-4.16 and current kernels? (Or if it's
going to support mainline vboxsf only.)
virtualbox upstream always keeps their out-of-tree kernel modules and their
userspace bits in virtualbox-guest-additions in sync. AFAIK they plan to adopt
the new mount args scheme on both the out-of-tree kernel-module and userspace
side.
Supporting both in VBoxServiceAutoMount seems somewhat
straightforward
(current Arch Linux workaround at [1]), but mount.vboxsf is more tricky. In
my hacky patch linked below, I just print a message to use `mount -cit`
instead. A problem with this approach, however, is that there's no way (that
I can see) to disable the helper from within fstab entries.
If the upstream solution is going to be in line with Fedora's (only
supporting option strings for mounting), then we might as well roll with
that in Arch Linux.
AFAIK the plan is to only support option strings, in which release they are
going to do that I do not know.
