Mine is an AGP version of the ATI Radeon 9200 and the attached monitor
doesn't
do EDID (properly or at all, I'm not really sure).
I have a Radeon X300. It dies/oopses on boot with the latest 2.6.35. On
2.6.34 it gets past boot but flashes (with X dying I think) over and over
again.
Reverting to a previous version of mesa fixes the problem for both kernels.
(Letting you know in case the problem isn't directly a kernel one)
