Hi all,
Since the Pantheon desktop will not be available on Fedora 37+ for the
foreseeable future (libsoup3pocalypse etc.), I am no longer interested
in maintaining some of its dependencies or "shared" components that
are still used by existing applications and some other GObject
libraries, and have hence orphaned them:
- contractor (Required-By: appeditor)
- editorconfig (Required-By: gnome-builder, gnome-text-editor,
kf5-texteditor, vim-editorconfig)
- elementary-sound-theme (unused
freedesktop.org sound theme)
- elementary-theme (GTK 2/3/4 stylesheet which breaks all DEs except Pantheon)
- granite (Required-By: various GTK applications)
- graphite2 (Required-By: harfbuzz, libreoffice, texlive)
- libcloudproviders (Required-By: gtk3, nautilus, nextcloud-client)
- zeitgeist (Required-By: cairo-dock, gnome-activity-journal, synapse)
I expect that editorconfig, graphite2, libcloudproviders to be picked
up by GNOME package maintainers, since they're dependencies of core
GNOME or Fedora Workstation components (CC @kalev).
granite will maybe need to stay around, though its widgets are a bit
broken if you don't use the elementary GTK stylesheet. There's also
granite-7 now (granite is like the elementary version of libhandy for
GTK3, granite-7 is like the elementary version of libadwaita for
GTK4), and I expect that they will both need to be packaged at some
point.
