The update to 1.5.0 pulled in an upstream change to input driver loading when
no xorg is present or incomplete ServerLayouts are given. As a result, the kbd
driver is not loaded automatically if no xorg.conf is present. This combines
with the F9 patch to disable evdev keyboards - resulting in no keyboard being
available.
So what? the F9 patch to disable evdev keyboards already resulted in no
keyboards on some systems, latest upstream change only made this result
more common.
As said before, xorg-x11-server-1.5.0-2.fc9 reverts the upstream
change and
kbd is now loaded automatically unless explicitly specified otherwise.
I hope that someday we'll stop working at cross-purposes with upstream
on input (given that Fedora derivatives like OLPC already use evdev)
