I am using the fedora 2.4 kernel and I have a P4 HT processor. In order to boot into SMP I have to boot it with the option acpi=on for thread safety and it works like a charm.
Now my issue is that I am using Fedora Core and when booting the SMP kernel, it trys to start CUPS, it locks the whole system down and is unresponsive. So I decided to stop CUPS from starting and then it froze on SSHD. I havn't gone any further yet to see what it freezes on next.
My specs are P4 3.06gz, SiS chipset on board. i810 audio, ATI M9 video, Toshiba 60g hd.
Any ideas of what could be causing this or how cani debug it?
thanks
