That's news to my ears; where did you hear this from? Considering Red
Hat's yum repositories contain no patent-infringing material I would
think they'd be fine, in any case.
Well, that's not the way the world works, unfortunately :-(.
This issue has nothing to do with the software being upgraded, but
about the tool or method to upgrade software with (which is most
likely a crazy patent about a trivial method, but we have to deal
with evil guys in this world :-( ).
