Hi all,
systemd-233 was released yesterday [1], and built today for F26 and rawhide.
There's a bunch of new stuff... including of particular significance
to Fedora:
- we turned "hybrid" cgroups on again. This was tried before,
unsuccessfully, with /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd using cgroups-v2, and
/sys/fs/cgroup using cgroups-v1. This time, everything is the same
as in the "legacy" setup, including /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd using
cgroups-v1, only /sys/fs/cgroup/unified is using cgroups-v2. This new
hybrid mode should be compatible with docker and lxc.
Please test and report issues, in particular if you're using
containers. Please note that it's necessary to update systemd in
the initramfs image for the cgroup hierarchy changes to take effect.
It is possible to force full unified with
"systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy" on the kernel command line, and
to disable "hybrid" with
"systemd.legacy_systemd_cgroup_controller".
- systemd-coredump has had its various loose ends tightened, and is
able to capture more types of crashes and report them better. I'll be
backporting the bugfixes to F24-25 later on.
- systemd --user instances load environment configuration from /etc/environment,
/etc/environment.d/*.conf, ~/.config/environment.d/*.conf [2].
Support for this new feature is in systemd and in gdm sessions, but
further adjustments are needed to make this work in all session
types.
