I seem to recall this having been discussed when FC2 was released, and
that there was a kernel problem with some VIA processors that was fixed
later on. Arjan made a boot ISO image with a later kernel that might get
you going:

FC3test1 seems to be working fine though, so that's why i
don't think
i'll file a bug report.
Makes sense if it is actually this problem...
