Peter,
I run into a random boot failure issue with my t61 mobile. It's
a dual-core x86-64 mobile. I installed Fedora core x86-64 8.
with kernel 2.6.28-rc, system fails to boot randomly.
Pls. see
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11899.
I found there are 2 issues.
1) when root=LABEL=/1, almost fails. nash fails to find the DISK type
for root device (MAJOR 259), so it couldn't probe for the boot file
system labels; It might be resolved by calling register_blkdev in kernel for 259.
2) when root=/dev/sda1, random fails. I instrumented both kernel and nash. kernel really
sends out netlink uevent info for device /dev/sdaXXX, but nash doesn't receive it.
I did a quick check of the source codes of the latest nash of FC10. It seems FC10's
nash
just added some new features (subcommands). So it shouldn't fix it. I didn't
really test
the latest nash because the nash update depends on too many rpms.
Peter,
I think I found the root cause of issue 2). Pls. see
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11899#c38.
Could you help review the patch?
