Hi,
I'm freerdp maintainer in RHEL. RHEL currently contains freerdp package,
which brings 1.0 version from the year 2012, because freerdp hasn't been
officially released since then. However, freerdp package in Fedora is based
on master (2.0 prereleases). Freerdp is slowly reaching to official 2.0
release, but it will take some time before it will get into RHEL. People
are asking about new features which can't be simply backported into 1.0
version due to significant changes and they use unofficial builds instead...
Unfortunately, EPEL branch for freerdp can't be simply created due to
package name conflict. Would be possible to add freerdp2 package only for
EPEL?
For example, Debian uses freerdp2 for 2.0 and freerdp for 1.1 version. I
wonder if there are any reasons why this approach hasn't been used in
Fedora also? I am not sure that renaming freerdp package to freerdp2 at
this point wouldn't be confusing...
I am adding current maintainer, Simone Caronni, in CC to be aware of this
discussion. Would you be willing to maintain this version also?
