Just a side note, it looks like having psmouse available as a module
and hence loadable dynamically (triggering some reinitizalition)
might have saved some reboots with rare bug with trackpoint not
working upon start (the bug might be a bit conflated, in my case
the trackpoint never started working again on its own, but I haven't
run into it for the past two months):

I haven't tested that, but that could be something beneficial about
providing modules instead in some cases.
