Does any group want to eventually release on a different cycle than the
others?
I mean I think this is the critical question. Because if the products
are always going to be in sync, having separate version numbers for
Fedora and each of them is going to confuse way more than it clarifies.
I cannot speak for the entirety of the Server Working Group, but I've
been advocating for Fedora Server to eventually move to a different
major release cadence (doing minor releases aligned with the Fedora base
though).[1]
That being said, the Server WG agreed unanimously that this was not
going to be a near-term goal. I suspect at that point we will end up
having to re-brand Server in some way (possibly by re-starting the
numbering at 1)
