Not any more "headaches" than ordinary add-on packages in a 3rd party repo with dependencies in the base dist repo(s).
Third party repos like RPM Fusion can still use package Epoch to replace base distribution packages.
RPM Fusion strictly forbid this.
And yet it would create less problems than conflicting replacement packages.
