It is just one thing that may help. Since we give sponsors significant
choice in who they will or will not sponsor, different sponsors may
choose to look at different things. Most of them will want to see
something that illustrates packaging experience, though. Doing informal
reviews is a good way to do that.
Which is pretty much what the wiki says, isn't it?
And this is how it's worked. For some of my sponsorees I've gone through
several rounds of review bugs, others have been more streamlined. It's
not about a number, it's about demonstrating that the prospective packager
either knows what they're doing or can be taught. If they demonstrate
that they won't need a lot of hand-holding, so much the better. ;)
