How to change FAS username and email
by Andrew Toskin
I'm having a hard time finding anything about this...
1. I need to change my email address. As I recall, when my Fedora account was first created, it was supposed to automatically link to my existing Red Hat Bugzilla account as long as they both used the same email. Right? I just want to confirm that the accounts will stay linked when updating my email.
2. I'm also considering changing my FAS nick/username; it's an oblique reference to something that I don't want to use as my name anymore. I asume this would require submitting a ticket to Pagure, but I'm not sure which section to file it under.

Fedora 34 Change: Localization measurement and tooling
(Self-Contained Change proposal)
by Ben Cotton
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/LocalizationMeasurementAndTooling
Summary
Provide a public website for end users and contributors, containing
Fedora Workstation translation progress and useful files for
translators (as an example: translation memories).
Owner
* Name: Jean-Baptiste Holcroft,
Francois Andrieu
* Email: <jean-baptiste(a)holcroft.fr>
Detailed Description
Language support is a transversal activity, there is no way to know
the actual language support provided by Fedora as an Operating System.
Because language support and translations are part of each upstream
software, the Linux language community is as spread as the Free Libre
and Open Source community is.
The ability to share efforts is limited (with data, tools, etc.):
* because of the complexity to get an overview of the current
localization status of the Linux community,
* because translators often have a low level of technical knowledge,
* because development experts are more keen to use English by default,
and don't know much about languages support requirements.
Debian did something similar (20 years ago)
https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/ . But this work:
* is limited in terms of features (no translation memories there)
* is too deeply integrated with Debian infrastructure (data
extraction, computation and website generation are 100% debian
specific)
* is using a programming language that doesn't allow to share easily
with existing i18n/l10n libraries (it did not exist 20 years ago)
Benefit to Fedora
It is a progress for the project: provide a new tool to translator community.
It helps the Linux community to better understand the language support
challenges.
It increases contributors effectiveness by providing translation
memories and other tools.
These translation memories open new possibilities:
* to train machines to suggest new translations?
* to detect quality issues (spellcheck, linters, etc)?
* the change the way we ship translations to users? (Ubuntu does it,
but never bring back translation to main project)
* to advertise user that Linux is available in many languages?
Scope
All of the work is isolated, as long as dnf works, the automation
works. The closer to mirror the cheaper it is for network cost (all
Fedora is downloaded at each execution).
* Proposal owners:
** Francois Andrieu integrate the existing scripts
into containers to allow execution into openshift
** Infra team:
*** provide some space for script execution (50 GB per release)
*** provide the languages.fedoraproject.org domain name
*** provide a location for static website (about 2 GB per release, may
increase over time)

Soname bump for clang-libs
by Tom Stellard
Hi,
We are going to be building clang-11.1.0 for rawhide, which changes the
soname of libclang.so and libclang-cpp.so. This is unusual for clang,
since the soname will change without bumping the major version number.
I will be rebuilding the affected packages, so no action is needed from
package maintainers. Ideally, the rebuilds will be done in a side tag,
however, depending on when the mass rebuild starts, they may have to be
done immediately after the mass rebuild completes, which could result in
a temporary break of these packages.
Here are are the packages that will be rebuilt:

List of long term FTBFS packages to be retired in February
by Miro Hrončok
Dear maintainers.
Based on the current fail to build from source policy, the following packages
will be retired from Fedora 34 approximately one week before branching (February
2021).
Policy:
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fai...
Note that some listed packages are orphaned and hence may be retired even sooner.
The packages in rawhide were not successfully built at least since Fedora 32.
This report is based on dist tags.
Packages collected via:
https://github.com/hroncok/fedora-report-ftbfs-retirements/blob/master/ft...
If you see a package that was built, please let me know.
If you see a package that should be exempted from the process, please let me
know and we can work together to get a FESCo approval for that.
If you see a package that can be rebuilt, please do so.

In my exprience, i686 package inclusion is random at the fringe, which
is why we actually had to change some glibc subpackages to noarch, and
put the architecture into the package name. 8-( This caused issues
elsewhere unfortunately, but the breakage during system upgrades
was too frequent to ignore.
I don't know if you are facing the same issue, or if it's something
else.
Thanks,
Florian

PackageKit-gtk3-module i686 (x86_32) is missing in Fedora 33
repositories
by Graham White
Hi,
I'm trying to get to the bottom of bug #1901065 - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1901065
Anyone know why PackageKit-gtk3-module.i686 has been removed from the Fedora 33 repositories? This package was there for Fedora 32 and checking Koji it looks like the 32-bit version is still being built. However, for some reason it's not appearing in the F33 repositories for the x86_64 architecture. We have some packages that rely on the 32-bit version so it would be good to have it re-included in the repo.
Many thanks,
Graham

Re: fedora SRPM auto building
by Richard W.M. Jones
Adding Fedora devel list since this is a Fedora development question,
not specific to RISC-V. I'll also note that you've asked this same or
very similar question several times before, over years:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/search?mlist=devel%40lists.fedor...
I can't help you unless you help yourself. Anyway ...

Firstly don't use the stage 4 disk image. That was the temporary
method we used over 4 years ago while bootstrapping. Use the regular
disk image. There are instructions here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/RISC-V/Installing
Once you have Fedora on RISC-V installed on qemu, just rebuild SRPMs
as you would on any other architecture. You do not need to use the
autobuilder - it was a hack that I wrote before we had Koji ported to
RISC-V. You also don't need to do anything special because it's
RISC-V. There are instructions here for single SRPMs:
https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/RebuildSRPM
To install Koji (a lot of work) you probably want to start here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Koji
Rich.
