Fedpkg import fails
by Vijayan, Arunprabhu
Hi,
I find when I try fedpkg scratch build or import, it is very slow & I'm not able to upload the package.
fedpkg build --scratch --target rawhide --srpm SRPMS/<srpm>
fedpkg import /path/to/srpm/from/step/1a
[cid:image001.png@01D6754B.7AE98690]
I've been trying this for a week & no help yet. Anything wrong in my setup? I'm using a hyper-V based machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Arun

Very strange compiler/linker related build failures in rawhide
by Fabio Valentini
Hi all,
I'm starting to see various very strange kinds of build failures in
rawhide, that seem to have started with either of these updates (or a
combination of them):
- annobin 9.21-1.fc33 → 9.22-1.fc33
- binutils 2.34.0-6.fc33 → 2.34.0-7.fc33
- elfutils 0.179-2.fc33 → 0.180-2.fc33
- glibc 2.31.9000-13.fc33 → 2.31.9000-14.fc33
These rawhide updates all happened at roughly the same time, so it's
difficult to say which one of them is to blame (if any of them).
One error I've seen in libreoffice is a gcc / annobin segfault:
[build CXX] vcl/unx/gtk3/gtk3gtkinst.cxx
*** WARNING *** there are active plugins, do not report this as a bug
unless you can reproduce it without enabling any plugins.

/builddir/build/BUILD/libreoffice-6.4.5.2/vcl/workben/vcldemo.cxx:1733:18:

1733 | join();
| ^
Other errors look like this one from switchboard-plug-onlineaccounts:
src/libonline-accounts.so.p/Authentification/Server.c: In function
‘online_accounts_server_on_bus_acquired’:
src/libonline-accounts.so.p/Authentification/Server.c:498:2: error:
function ‘__errno_location’ is initialized like a variable
498 | gint errno = 0;
| ^~~~
Where errno is neither __errno_location, nor a function, but a gint??
Other failures I've seen end up with linker failures, line these, from
postgresql:
ld: undefined reference to `postgresql_subtrans__checkpoint__start_semaphore'
Does somebody have a clue what's going on here? It's currently
blocking rawhide composes because libreoffice fails to build /
install.

Thanks,
Fabio

New libxmlb 0.2.0 which breaks API and ABI
by Richard Hughes
Hi all,
I'm going to build the recently released libxmlb 0.2.0 into rawhide
and F33. It has two consumers (fwupd and gnome-software) both of which
I own, and I'll rebuild them at the same time. Any problems please
shout.

f33-backgrounds available in the repository
by Luya Tshimbalanga
Hello team and testers,
f33-backgrounds is now available for testing in Fedora 33 repository.
The major change is the time of day enabled by default (default animated
background) on Workstation Edition and Design Suite Labs. As a result,
the animated subpackage is eliminated from this release.
For users running on different desktop environments, both MATE and
Cinnamon inherit that function and their respective spin maintainers can
optionally enable. Selecting a a separate default background with their
time of day version is now possible for KDE and XFCE which lacks support
of time of day features. Developers are free to provide a patch to enable.
For installation on GNOME or Cinnamon,
sudo dnf install f33-backgrounds-{base,gnome}
For MATE,
sudo dnf install f33-backgrounds-{base,mate}
For KDE,
sudo dnf install f33-backgrounds-{base,kde}
For XFCE,
sudo dnf install f33-backgrounds-{base,xfce}
Thank you for testing
