Orphaned appframework
by Omair Majid
Hi,
I have just orphaned appframework:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/appframework
This package was failing to build in rawhide because one of its
dependencies, swing-layout was orphaned and removed. Unfortunately, I
don't have the time or interest to take over and maintain swing-layout.

Seeking the maintainer of dbus-python
by Miro Hrončok
Hello. I am trying to figure out who maintains dbus-python in Fedora.
The main admin is Ray Strode but I haven't seen any activity from Ray on that
package (git log and %changelog).
The default Bugzilla assignee in Fedora is "Alternative GTK desktop
environments" I wasn't able to google this SIG nor to find any information about
them.
The default Bugzilla assignee in RHEL is Colin Walters but I haven't seen any
activity from Colin on that package **in Fedora** either.
Since cca mid-2018 there was no reply from any maintainer in Bugzillas.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?component=dbus-python&product=Fedora
The last maintainer commits are from 3 years ago by Leigh who (seem to) used to
be the main Bugzilla PoC back then. Everything else is from provenpackagers or
occasional PR merge by one of the 14 (!) co-maintainers.
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/dbus-python/commits/master
The current lack of response is visible for example here:
Update requests piling up since September:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1748056
(Previous update Bugzilla was opened for ~5 months, fixed by provenpackager.)
Backport request to stable releases hanging in BZ from when Fedora 30 was rawhide:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1663693#c9
Python 3.9 failure with upstream fix that blocks a lot of other packages, opened
1 month ago:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1788491
I can certainly jump in as provenpackager to update the package and backport the
Python 3.9 fix, however I've already done this during the Pytohn 3.8 rebase and
I would very much prefer to have somebody who actually cares about this package
to maintain it.
There are some "high profile" packages depending on this, for example:
NetworkManager, abrt, anaconda, bolt, dbus, pidgin, python-qt5, tuned...
Full list: `repoquery --repo=rawhide{,-source} --whatrequires python3-dbus`
Thanks,

Looking for new urlgrabber maintainer
by Michal Domonkos
Hi,
I'd like to ask around if anyone would be willing to take ownership of
the python3-urlgrabber package and its upstream repository[1]?
For historical reasons, the project is de facto maintained by us, the
DNF team (with the upstream repo hosted in our GitHub namespace).
However, with the community's departure from YUM (which depended on
urlgrabber) a few years back, we no longer have the incentive or
capacity to keep the project alive, and are considering deprecating it
in the near future, unless someone takes over.
Now, urlgrabber has recently[2] been ported to Python 3, in an effort
to maintain its legacy as a standalone general-purpose URL library,
authored[3] by Jochen Breuer of SUSE in November, 2018. It's the only
component of the legacy YUM stack that wasn't dropped[4] from the
distro in Fedora 31. In addition to that, there currently is one last
component in Fedora that requires the package; koji-containerbuild.
That said, I'd like to address this request especially to Jochen and
the maintainers of koji-containerbuild. Please, let us know if you
(or anyone, really) would be interested in the transfer.
Thank you!
Michal
