Is __python now required to be defined in rawhide?

/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/macros contains this:
%__brp_python_bytecompile /usr/lib/rpm/brp-python-bytecompile "%{__python}" "%{?_python_bytecompile_errors_terminate_build}" "%{?_python_bytecompile_extra}"
And htis:
%__os_install_post \
[…]
%{?py_auto_byte_compile:%{?__brp_python_bytecompile}} \
I think this means that %{__python} is always expanded during the build.
Does this mean that all spec files now need to define __python?

Remove sysctl function from glibc in rawhide?
by Florian Weimer
I'd like to suggest to remove the sysctl function from glibc in rawhide
this week. It's been deprecated upstream, but I think it's more
convenient to us to remove it in a mid-year release cycle, separate from
the GCC rebase.
On some architectures (notable aarch64), the sysctl function is just a
stub because the kernel does not support the system call. This requires
the right magic configure checks (autoconf handles it correctly, others
do not). Some packages also have kernel (header) versions which are
quite broken (see openrdate). Removing this function should trigger the
appropriate fallback paths in those packages.
The change would only affect compiling and linking new binaries.
Existing binaries will continue to run, subject to the availability of
the system call.
Comments?
Thanks,
Florian

Orphaning all my packages
by Jens Lody
Dear fellow developers,
I'm no longer able to maintain my packages on Fedora, due to lack of
time and power.
I am maintainer of:
aeskulap,
astyle,
codeblocks,
dvdbackup,
gnome-dvb-daemon,
gnome-shell-extension-openweather,
gnome-shell-extension-panel-osd
All packages build (as far as I know) except for gnome-dvb-daemon which
failed to build on fc30 mass-rebuild.
The two gnome-shell-extensions should be retired in my opinion, because
they are available via extensions.gnome.org (at the moment), but as I
am also upstream maintainer, the will not be continued (at least not by
me).
I'm also upstream maintainer for aeskulap
(https://github.com/jenslody/aeskulap) but will archive the github-repo
sooner or later.
So if somebody is interested in keeping it, she/he should know this and
probably think about becoming upstream.
If anybody is interested in taking one of the projects, please let me
know and send your fas-name, so I can give it to you.
Jens (jenslody)

Non Intel sound cards' drivers issue
by Nikoloz Geldiashvili
For most of non Intel sound cards drivers are not installed automatically and hard to find, install from software app and need to manually configure.
AlsaMixer and alsa utils (https://www.alsa-project.org) or like (if any) must be built in and integrated to system's sound control panel for fixing this issue.

glibc-arm-linux-gnu help
by Tom Callaway
A few years ago, I packaged up glibc-arm-linux-gnu, so that Fedora could
have a packaged arm cross-toolchain that was useful (with glibc, it
cannot build anything in userspace). It worked for a while, but lately,
all builds have been failing with this error:
/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnu-ld: skipping incompatible
/usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabi/8/libgcc_eh.a when searching for -lgcc_eh
I've looked at it and poked it quite a bit locally, but I can't seem to
get around that. I could really use some help to get this building
again, ideally, updated to 2.28.
All my work is committed to git, no help will be refused.
Thanks in advance,
~tom

Openscad
by Howard Howell
HI, everyone,
Is there a plan to upgrade OpenSCAD to 2019-05? That is the
latest release according to the website?
